About the project

The Full Story

What started off as photographing historical buildings and landmarks in the state of Illinois, turned into a fascination with a old road.  I moved to the state of Illinois in 2014 with no idea of what I would find.  I was often surprised when I discussed the Lincoln Highway with people.  They have heard of Route 66 but what is the Lincoln Highway.  Well, in short, the Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental highway across the United States.  Built in 1913, this route took travelers 2,000 miles from New York to San Francisco. More of a stitching of existing dirt roads and trails rather than a highway we think of as today, the Lincoln Highway
