From Valley Forge and Independence Hall to Washington’s Crossing and historic Revolutionary War battlefields throughout the East Coast, this growing collection brings the history of the American Revolution into focus through photography. The American Revolution was far more than a series of battles. It was a remarkable period of courage, sacrifice, uncertainty, determination, and transformation that ultimately led to the creation of the United States. The places where these events unfolded remain part of the American landscape today. Roads traveled by Continental soldiers, fields where armies fought, buildings where important decisions were made, and landmarks that commemorate the people and events of the Revolution all provide opportunities to connect with the past. Through my photography, I hope to capture more than simply what these locations look like today. I want to document the atmosphere, character, and sense of history found at these sites and encourage others to learn more about the stories behind them. Whether photographing a battlefield, historic building, monument, statue, marker, or quiet landscape, each image represents a small piece of a much larger story.
